This is my 1986 Caprice. Affectionately name Fernado. I am the second owners of Fernado. Fernando was purchased from Alexander Motors in my hometown in July of this year. Fernando came equipped with the LG4 engine (305 CID, 4 barrel carburator), 700R4 transmission and 2.56:1 gears in the peg legged rear end. Fernando had just 113,000 miles on him when I picked him up. I couldn't belive how clean he was when I first saw him. My step-father, who used to own the dealership where I bought him and still works there, was driving him when I first saw him. Fernando hadn't even been through the clean up department at the dealership, and yet he was spotless for a 15 year old car. No cigarette burns or stains in the seats. and the carpet even looked pretty clean. Most of all the dash was in perfect shape. No cracks or holes at all. Even his paint was bright and shiny.

After getting Fernando home I started work on making him run as good as he looked. What I found was amazing. After 113,000 miles he was still running on following original parts:

I replaced the spark plugs, wires and oxygen sensor with new AC-Delco replacements. For the distrubtor cap and rotor I used Accel parts. The PCV valve and grommet were whatever the parts store had in stock. The shock absorbers are still the OEM pieces at this time.

The following modifications have been done to improve performance, comfort or out of necessity:
